Sounds like the tech is more to catch cheaters than anything. It's like when the sponsored guys from trinity motors a few years back that put cheater coms in the cans. But I am with Darrell the races suck cause you spend more time in tech than actually racing. And like Gerry said after spending that much cash and be DSQ that would suck. Another reason to follow roar more as a light guideline for racing and having fun than any sort of club friendly racing body. But again good luck guys show them how we do it on the island. Kick some butt.

At the ROAR level there is money on the line though. Advertising dollars, sponsors, and the old adage, "Whats wins on Sunday, sells on monday".

So, you can easily understand why they are so anal.   I think our tech inspections for speedweekend is more then enough.  We had a pretty good system for the carpet edition, with the checking of ride height and weight before the race.  I think it worked quite well, and we did stop acouple of cars from going on the carpet with really low ride height.  Not saying people were trying to cheat of course, but when running 3 classes, sometimes things get over looked.

Those tech tools the club use have been used for years and years and it's just a few simple tools for keeping it relatively even for everyone. No arguing no fights. Waiting in tech for an hour is to catch cheaters cause of the advertising etc if they win. I am pretty sure I would not be disappointed if I never attend a ROAR sanctioned race. I dont agree with them and I know they would not miss me lol so they don't need my dollars.

Nevertheless any more info on how our boys are doing.

I dont think we had anyone in TC.. TC is for outdoors anyways. :-) Looks like rob had a better run the second round of 1/12.  He's with J-Rod and picked up acouple of laps.

Nice antenna Blake, it must look great in your pit beside your Hi-IQ while discharging your 2400's at 30 Amps.  Remember to clean out the contacts on your speed control before the main!

Just bustin your balls. Good job, looks like the rest of the boys are struggling with the added pressures at a big race (traction, tech, being ready on time, etc). I remember giving up on my 12th modified class my first year at cleveland, seemed too hard to get everything ready even though it was hours between races.

Thanks J-Main, but at least my radio is working.  Poor Dumper swapped to a loaner radio today after his DSM unit failed him.  He's having a tough weekend so far; I think I'm actually ahead of him in 12th....  Some tough drivers in 12th 13.5 like Blackstock and Hebert.  Frank's hopes lie with this newer kid Andrew Knapp who is very fast but doesn't have the experience level of a Blackstock.

Cyrul is dominating the WGT class so I don't think there is much hope for CRC there.  Similar story in 12th Mod too.

The first official rounds of qualifiers usually shatter illusions of great performances, and this race is no different.  It's tough going out there!  At least we haven't been caught up in any of the non-approved equipment issues that others are facing.

Report more tomorrow night.

Thanks for the pictures and updates guys.
LiveRC video just doesn't do the racing justice. But of course, it is better than nothing. I don't know if the subscribed-to version has better video quality, but it does offer a few different camera angles does it not?
Oh yeah, thanks for running your 'Club' paint schemes, it makes it easier to identify the speeding blurs! ;-)

Dont pay for the LiveRC.. That location only has a single camera. So no improvement. You just dont get cutoff off the video feed, and you dont have the que.. You get video right away. (Which is ajust a blur anyways).

Thanks for the pics! Looks like fun, wish I was there.
Of course it isnt a road trip race unless you have a pic from a restaraunt!

Rob, thats not proof..., looks like you are passing the salad over to the person next to you, the waitress is probably just out of view waiting to hand you the triple bacon cheese burger with waffle fries and gravy. LOL. One of the best parts of the NY, Ohio road trip was Applebee's, Denny's , Quaker Steak and lube ( a true USA grease pit) and Champs!

Blake has done really well, looks like he needs more power though. All his laps where within acouple of tenths of each other, so you know he is in complete control.   Problem is so are the other guys, and their cars are fast!
