Hey Guys;

   I tried the speck tire last year with the pan cars, I understand they have better downforce, cause of the body, and mine was one of the wide cars( never hurts) ;D, but it was like a sled in the corners. I could not get it to turn in, I don't know what you guys were using on the front but I had to slow down at the corner.  I finally changed back to black fronts, and used the speck rears at times, if not green rears. It was a totally different feeling on the carpet with them cut down smaller, I did run mine full size outside, but they didn't get better the little I wore off them. I finally chopped them for the 360 race. And the WGT motor rule sucks  ;), lol. I bought a brand new 10.5 for last summer never used it, at the 360 race Gerry's smoked so I put my 13.5 into his car, and I don't think I would be able to run my WGT with the Novak in it again after Indoor  Speed weekend and having a tekin sitting in my 1/12 car  that is just sad lol ;). I have had to have lots of therapy to get rid of those memories. Wheel time will tell I guess.

If the spec tires are pushy that actually seems like a good sign.  Rear grip was my biggest concern with the spec tires since they seem to be such a long wearing compound.  The car might turn-in a little better with half the voltage too....

Definitely will be interesting to see.

That's right we were running 7.4v ya that would make some serious difference lol.

Quote from: Shawn68z on March 09, 2011, 03:55:40 PMThe novice class is also a good idea, and will be interesting to see how many people show up to run that class. It still doesnt address the cost of racing though. Figured a RTR 18R would make a good novice class.  Nice and cheap to run.
Although 18R's are cheap, there is a very limited upgrade path from that platform to any other cars that we race.  That limits its utility as an entry-level class.  Different batteries, motors, ESC's, servos, tires, etc. mean the only thing from an 18R that you can use in anything else are the transponder and receiver.

maybe.. but there a hell of alot of fun to race..lol

Any chance that having an 18r class would bring down some of the Nanaimo crowd?

Hi Danny,

We have told the Nanaimo group that we will run an 18R heat any Sunday that we have enough racers.

18r or any other added class just seems to water down participation.Look at the attendance drop after speed weekend.    my 2 cents

re: Tom's comments about not being able to upgrade to any other cars that we race from an 18R. This is true, but unlike the other cars we run outdoors, the 18R could be run indoors as well without having to open the track layouts like we do to accommodate the 1/10 TC's or WGT class cars. So for Newbies, they could buy an 18R, race it outdoors then change the tires and run it indoors without any great additional expense.

  Either way, Cameron will be in the novice class, and he is quite happy about this prospect.   I am just hoping I can find some aluminum steering blocks for the T2 (For a half-decent price). Betwee Joe, and Cameron last year, I think they depleted the entire north american supply.
