WorldGT racing this winter

Hi all,

Just a heads up that we will be running a WorldGT class on certain club race nights this winter. The schedule has yet to be decided, but WorldGT will have its own (shorter) points series.

Also, as we approach our big carpet race, we'll have some Touring Car heats during club racing to allow drivers to get up to speed before the big one.

Not to stir up to much with our race months away. But reading more about us being part of this WCICS race series are we having this spec tire thing at our races too. Cause it is saying on their list of rules that for points you have to run the classes and rules that they specify. That being said they are going with a Jaco Blue spec tire that you have to purchase above your race fees. I am just wondering if I leave the touring going or change the equipment into the off road car.

Hi Glenn,

WCICS requires the spec Jaco Blue tire for the TC classes, but I will ask Josh if racers can use their Jaco tires from last year. If you do have to buy a set, it will likely be only $30 which is the same as a new set of 12th Scale or WGT tires....

Hey Glenn,

Ok, I have sent Josh an email. I asked him if last year's Blues can be used this year, and if not, can a racer buy a new set this year and use them for multiple WCICS races. Ex. Buy a set at the Big Chill, and re-use them at our race.

I will let you know what he says,

Hi Glenn,

I heard back from Josh, and the rules are the same as what we used last winter at our race: You must buy a set of tires at each event, but you can use them in multiple classes (ex. TC 17.5 and TC13.5) at that event. Obviously the concept is that $25-$30 is a lot cheaper than keeping three or more sets of different soft compounds on hand to be competitive.

So, unfortunately you will have to buy a new set, but at $25-$30 (I'm hoping that IROCC can afford to sell them at $25 this year) it's really about the same as buying new foams for 12th or WGT.

I actually used my Jaco Blues from Speed Weekend CE for the first several weeks of outdoor racing this summer. That way you get the full bang for your buck.

I am noob, but how much different from 12th is world gt? why not just run carpet spec tc? im sure if i ran both i wouldn't ask but they look like identical cars aside from size and 13.5 obviously.

WorldGT is like a lazy 12th Scale. TC is like a lazy WGT.

Thanks for letting us know we will have a spec tire for our race again. That helped me make up my mind as to what I am going to race this winter. I don't see the need to buy a set of Jaco tires for one race in the winter when I won't even run that make outdoors. I do agree it's the same price as a set of 1/12 during the winter season or WGT. But that is like saying buy a set of 1/12 tires for our summer Speed weekend and use them for the up coming winter season. No big deal as touring was rather an after thought anyway.

if a set of tires is $25 id be into running a tc at speed weekend. thats not any worse than a set of nitro tires and they last longer ha. would the blues be too soft/hard for outdoors?
might be trolling for a new motor/esc setup if i do run in this event.
thinking of getting some lrp stuff but not sure. like the not needing a cap or rx battery for 12th scale with it, but then why did i bother buying a tekin system... and what does "Stock spec" mean in marketing terms anyway. is that gonna be a blinky esc or am i still setting timing and boost ect. $219... that would be a lot to pay for a blinky esc..

TC Stock Spec = no timming set in the esc so any from this list http://www.roarracing.com/?page_id=737 should be ok

tires worked great for the winter speed weekend. they also worked great the entire summer season. so lets say 3 big races on 2 sets of tires and all the other races inbetween 25$ x 2 complete sets. As well i will be using them next season as the wear is very minor. Great bang for the buck

It was never a complaint from me about the wear cause it never got to that point as they pretty much fell off the rim way before they ever wear out.

The Blues are fine for outdoor but will not be as fast as some other brands. This will only be noticeable at the top-most levels though. I ran Blues for the first two months of outdoor this summer. They wear quite well, but our track is pretty easy on tires.

Can I make a suggestion for our club WGT racing this winter

Let us use a Non Spec Tires for this season with the under standing that this is for this season only.

A lot of guys I think are like myself with a few box's of good 1/10 scale tires that need to be used up.

But for our speed weekend race we can use the spec tires
