Yeah I have a RC10 T3 that would love to be taken down off the dusty shelf for a run.  Dave try and find out more about time, location and intent and let us know.

last year I was going to buy a b4. Just love buggy's.  but no track, no buggy.  As solo bashing gets boring real fast.  So If a track would pop up I would def.  get  a buggy.

Here the true question?  Is the track going to be 1/10 or 1/8 scale.  Or is there a way to incorporate both in to one design.

next if this does.  So we race on Sat(off road) and Sun on road0  Man I'm there even more excuse not to work.  :D
ood grief I think I lost my....
. one turn at a time, but what do I have to do on the straight's again.

for a cool display option press alt+(f4)

If you try to incorperate more than one scale into a track at once, you end up with either a track that sucks for all cars, or a track that sucks for all but one of the scales.  This is the exact problem that has plagued carpet racing since the late '90's when touring cars became popular.  When you try to run both 1/10 scale cars and 1/12 scale cars on the same track, you either have a track that sucks for 1/10 scale because it's too tight, or a track that sucks for 1/12 scale because the track is just a wide open track, or a track that sucks for everyone because it attempts to compramise.

I would suggest, if people do organize and try to build a new off-road faciilty, that it attempt to cater to a single scale.  Speaking from experience, I would also enccourage whoever was doing it should cater to 1/10 scale, since that can provide plenty of excitement.

Another option would be to build two seperate tracks, one on either side of the drivers stand if this facility is as big as it sounds.  This way you have the best of both worlds!

Nice to see some support for the idea of offroad racing making its way back.

The scale of this track is going to have to cater for MONSTER TRUCK/TRUGGY, 1/8th scale buggy, and 1/10th scale (gas and electric as long as there is enough for a heat).

I will be shooting for a HARDPACK surface so the electrics can rip, but the number of buggys and monster trucks around town is what we will be going for. Yes there is 6 or 7 people from the club with an buggy or truck, there is proberly 20 Gas monster trucks, and 10 1/8th scale buggys that I've talked to in the past week. Ive raced on tracks recently where all scales race on the same track, which is the beauty of offroad, there is more than ONE line. Yes an touring car has a problem staying in 6ft lanes but you don't have to clear the triple everytime with your B3 because the 1/8th scales are

I have huge respect for the old school off roaders in the club and battery power is super compeative but gas technolgy and cost is taking over offroad expectally in our wet climate. If you have attended a off road race in the lower mainland in the last 5 years you know what I'm saying.

electric or gas, Come one come all, this is going to be sweet. I will be checking it out tomorrow armed with a tape measure, steaks, and a camera.(if only i knew how to post pics). :)

Peace

Hate to say it, but a lot of this sounds familiar. It sounds like everybody wants to divide the club up again so we will be back to a club only half the size it currently is. Don't get me wrong, I would love to run off-road again but I know a lot of on-roaders would have nothing to do with it.

i think with the money most people have already into there touring and 12th scale cars, i highly doubt people will drop all on-road to race offroad once and a while.

Good point Jarrod.  You all must remember, people will do what they want to do despite "recommendations" not to.  From what I've seen this may even help the on-road part of the club.  There are some off roaders that don't run on road at all.  This may be a great way to get more cross over!!
Think about it.

I've an on-road lifer.  Its way too much fun to give up for off-roading and like everyone is saying we've got way too much (for most of us) to just drop it and move to something else.

That being said I've got a few trucks that would be fun to play with on a track instead of up and down the road and at the park....  I'm not gonna miss a Saturday (or Sunday in the summer) race to go off-roading

I understand the concern but we all have hobbies other than on-road that take time and money as well yet we still manage to "prioritize" and make time and money available for on-road (except for that one guy who thinks hockey is more important.....).

Besides on-road is way better - why do you think on-road is still around even though most people buy off-road vehicles from the hobby shop...

both racing on road and racing off road are equally rewarding in my books but most people buy off road cars and trucks because you can't really rip an XRAY or Losi up the street with out scratching the poo out of it. The idea of not having to run on a prepared lot sells off road.

I will certainly not missing any sundays or saturdays for the dirt because on-road is here to stay.

A lot of us started with off road.  It eventually gave way to what we have now.  I see it as an evolution.  Nobody could stop it.  Could it be possible that the evolution is coming back to off road?  It seems to be regaining popularity, just look at how many T Maxes and those types of trucks there are out there.  Also 1/8 scale.  There is no reason that on road and off road can't co-exist.  We all have our preferences though!!!

The monster truck craze that has been happening seems to me to be distinct from the off-road racing lots of us started out with.  These trucks inspired by the T-Max are geared more to driving around un-prepaired areas rather than racing.

I can definately envision a little bit of a conflict though between organized off-road and organized on-road.  Lots of people don't really care which one they run as long as there are others around, and others have preferences, which means that there is the potential for the turn-out at any one regular weekly race event may diminish significantly.
