Unless of course he has been trained under Chris then he has a good chance of understanding...

I am the first to admit that I can't spell worth a darn, however I do like to think that I can write at least somewhat coherently.

Lots of the posts that I see on this forum (and other places as well -- my sister-in-laws are a particular example) show a "new" way of communicating that I am unfamiliar with, and that is a bunch of gibberish that it is left for the reader to interperate.

Although I don't think spelling is the most important thing, often times I am unable to decipher the writers intent, since the words bear no resemblance to an english word at all.  I see written communications nowadays from people in high school and beyond that are far less coherent than what my classmates and I worked on in grade 5, and I have old assignments kicking around to prove it.

To conclude this off-topic and irrelavant rant, I feel that writers should not put the onus on the reader to decipher a message, since this is just begging for problems.  Written communication in this day and age is becoming more and more important, and it tends to be more difficult to communicate in the written word than other forms, since there are fewer cues to decipher the speaker's intent (tone of voice, facial expression, etc.).  What I've seen in the last few years is a degradation of the quality of casual communication from pretty much everyone, and it's a sad sight for me, since I don't believe any good can come of it.

I find it much easier to understand the writings of someone just learning english than native speakers often, and I think this is pathetic.  I feel it shows a lack of respect for the reader when the writer doesn't put enough effort into their post to make it even part-way coherent.

No comments are directed at any individuals in particular; I'm basing my rant on my experiences of all sorts of people, mostly non-IROCC'ers.

I made that initial post about Jarrods spelling because it was truely bad enough that if the potential person wanting to buy a nitro car didnt previously know what a Serpent was then he really would not have known what the hell Jarrod was talking about.

When a person spells so poorly that you cant understand the message then yes I tend to think that it becomes an issue. Of course a word typed incorrectly isnt a big deal but missing the point of a post becasue of it is brutal.
