Anyone still have Off Road stuff???
« on: October 17, 2005, 10:07:26 PM »
Hi guys......so whats the consensus??  Whao has any electric off road cars left?  I was going to go down to TRCR on one of our off weekends and re-familiarize myself with racing on a track with the extra dimension.  Anyone interested let me know.

I've still got all my stuff, and I've been feeling the itch lately as well.  Nothing is ready to go though.

I've got a few off-road trucks - I'm game to go.  Where/what is TRCR though?

WOW!!  I didn't think there were that many guys with off road stuff.  Cool.  We'd have to go across on the ferry then I5 from there.  It shouldn't be too far from there.  Also, I know Chris has stuff too.

ROAD TRIP !!!!!

Are we just going to mess around or are we racing with the local club?

If we are racing what is a legal set up?

Hey Dave, that pic is not TRCR by the way.  TRCR is indoor.  For those interested, it is a "California" style track. ie: hard packed surface that usually gets a blue groove.

Yes we will be racing the locals so be prepared to have your butt handed to you!!  I'm going because it will be FUN.  The owner is Team Associated sponsored driver Scott Brown (Brownie).  He used to come up here (the mainland) to race every now and then since he was a boy.  He remembered me the last few times I went there.  All the racers there were quite friendly. Don't worry too much about the "rules". If you have an offroad car it is most likely legal.  Bring a stock motor and if you are brave, a mod.  Check the link Dave posted for classes etc.

Now I just have to figure out where to get the ferry that goes to the States and where it comes out.  I guess that it would be fairly close to Tacoma.

Ah, offroad.

I never raced offroad in America but I went to a few of the races at the Randy Shantz track in North Vancouver.

I still remember Tom's gas truck loosing its receiver pack at full throttle (of course) and launching off the huge banked corner perpendicular to the racing line.  I think it was Daryl that caught the truck and managed to kill the engine before it detonated.

It might have been that very same race weekend when Tom (these kinds of stories seem to follow Tom around) realized that his Losi XX had a cracked chassis about 15 miutes before his main.  Roger had a chassis on site and so three or four of us scrambled to replace the chassis before the race.  If I remember, it was one person on the front suspension, one on the rear suspension, and the third moving the electronics.  Can't remember if we got it done in time....

I still have all my stuff but I'm way short on electronics to get it all running.

Whereabouts?

Maybe IROCC can return to its outdoor roots and start running off-road again!

AWESOME !!!
I've been having dreams about running off road again.  Maybe it will happen.  I am going to run it regardless of if we get a track or not but it would be cool to have one here.

Start stocking up on off road stuff boys.
