2009 Queen Alexander Car Show -- Aug 23
« on: July 15, 2009, 01:54:00 AM »
Special Event for IROCC
On August 23rd we will hold our club race at the Queen Alexander Hospital parking lot during an annual car show that raises money for the kids that use the services at QA.  We tried to do this last year but we got rained out. We have been invited back and hopefully the weather will cooperate.  We hope for a really good turnout to show support and help out the kids and put on a good show.  More details to follow about set up, (probably Sat night).  Mark it on your calenders!!!

Sounds great!  Last year's rainout was a shame; let's hope for better weather this year.  An R/C car race in the middle of a car show is ideal for IROCC.  And good for the kids too!

We should try to get a 2nd blower for the lot this time as it was very dirty last year.

In regard to a race this summer it looks like aug 29,30 would be the best dates and we'll confirm with the group this Sunday. We should be testing the timing system this weekend and I'm sure it will be fine. This will be our first race so we would like to invite our friends from the RC community to join us.The thought was to have a very simple two day race at a very cheap price so we could introduce ourselves. We guarantee that you will have fun on our track. We should be able to officially announce the race sunday evening.

They are different dates, I think Daryl was just saying that we should let them know that weekend is out fr us so they could consider that when setting their date. turns out they picked a different date anyway.

Both those date suck by the way, LOL,

Yeah, I talked to Fast Eddie earlier in the week to tell him that we could not travel on Aug 22/23 because we had the QA race.  And so it looks like they've gone with Aug 29/30 for the Richmond race which is perfect.  We NEED to get a big group together for this one.  Let's show them how much we appreciate their coming here for the last five years in a row!  I will have my van that can take 4/5 people complete with tables/tents/generators/RC-Gear.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled QA programming....  Saturday night setup sounds good as I think most of the car show is done by 3PM and so we'll want to run our schedule a bit earlier than a usual Sunday schedule.

Just a quick favor.  anyone have an extra lipo pack that they wouldn't mind lending for the day.  Oh if possible to pick up early to make sure it fits the E4.

It would be nice to have a good turnout at this event.  A good cause and a change of track.  Come out Saturday 2pm for set up and instructions on where you can pit and park to stay out of the car show's way.

gork an e4 is a touring car from Team magic.  it used a brick style not saddle pack same ass most.  I just need the pack for fitment.  as I need to raise the top deck to make it fits. no biggie.

Another reminder that racing will likely start early on Sunday morning since we won't need to setup the track.  The full-size car show runs between 10AM and 2PM, so we'll *try* to start qualifiers around 10AM as well.

Awesome event this weekend!  If anyone actually had a chance to look up from their pit-tables, there was TON of spectators watching all the time.  Great exposure for our club!  Next year we will have to be on-the-ball with some sort of flier or something that we can handout to the spectators so that they can find us in Colwood and on the web.

Great job keeping up with the schedule too - I'm glad we started/finished when we did, because the place was a ghost town after our mains.
