April 23 - Practice Race Day....
« on: April 17, 2006, 02:21:07 PM »
Just to verify we are going to be doing a dry run on the 23rd?  So we will be doing registration, entering all the new drivers, frequencies, transponders, running qualifiers and mains, etc.  Also setting up the heats and figuring out how long our typical race day will be and what to change or improve on to make it run with our new 19T class.

Just wanted to verify this as I also heard we were just gonna draw some lines in the lot and have a random practice session....

I am assuming it is a tuesday as usual (ropes and chalk).

Sunday (23rd) was supposed to be a full raceday - no points. However Thomas, the guy with the trailer, says he has not heard any such thing and was not planning on coming. As far as I can tell he is the only one not thinking there was a full race (dry run - no points) next Sunday.

so who knows what will happen.  Damn trailer, lets get a truck!

As far as I've heard, there was never any official announcement regarding anything about the 23rd. So for once, I agree with Tom :)

According to the IROCC "Home Page", the first "Practice"  day is listed as the 23rd of April,  with the first "Race" day listed as the 30th.
Track set up starts half an hour earlier this year too don't forget!

As far as the trailer/truck thing goes, we're still looking!
I just got back from Duncan, as I'd been informed there may be a couple of Cubevans that might be worth looking at up there. Unfortunately, they weren't worth the drive! WAY too much money!

So people, keep your eyes and ears open for a 1989-96ish,  preferably Ford diesel 14' to 16' Cubevan!!
Mileage isn't a big issue, but we don't want one with a million kms on it either!
Otherwise, someone will be hauling around our overstuffed little trailer again this Summer, and we all know how much fun that trailer is to unload and load!

Regards,
Nick

Well it would make the most sense to have it set up like we were racing for points this weekend (without actually counting them in the series).  That way we can work out the kinks when there is the time and resources to work 'em out.

Oh I meant sweeping the track off tomorow night....  not a full track set up - we never do that for practice night...  we have ropes and dots for tomorow?

Practice and turning sounds really good for the 23rd.  No racing please!  Give the new guys a chance to relax, work on cars, ask questions, get help without having to rush into races and the Oldies will also have time to help out the Newbies.  Even rules and regulations would be good too.  Why rush into racing the first day out?  You will have plenty of time for that in the season.

Anyone up for that?

Regarless of if we "race" or not its not for points.  I figure the idea would be to get everything streamlined and if you don't go through the whole procedure its kinda hard to figure it all out....
