Hello all, I'm considering joining the RC car scene.

What the general concensus on the HPI pro 4 chassis? Many parts out there? Anyone running one?

The hpi pro4 is a great chassis.  Part are a bit hard to come by.  as they don't make the pro4 any more.  If your interested in coming out to race, and haven't purshased anything yet.  I would recommend getting a 12 scale. as our summer season is almost done.  there is only 2 weeks of racing left .  then we go indoors starting in Oct.  That way your touring car would be siting on the shelve till next summer.  there are plenty of car out there for the 12 scale.  If you Pick up a CRC we have a guy in our club that sell the spares for it.  I hope this help
ood grief I think I lost my....
. one turn at a time, but what do I have to do on the straight's again.

for a cool display option press alt+(f4)

Weather permitting, there will be three more outdoor races: Sept 9, 23, and 30th.  Sept 16th is also an option for those not traveling to Kamloops.  It would likely be a practice day with dots only as pretty much half the club will be away.

So, yeah, Andrew is right in stating that a 12th Scale car will be your better buy for the next six months.  I think there are some 12th Scale rolling chassis' that can be had for as little as $100 in our Buy/Sell area.

Thanks for the heads up Cyrrus. So I'll need an electric 1/12 scale touring car? Anything I should consider...rules...regulations, indoor foam tires? That sort of thing.

Also...any recommended models? Brand names. I'm not wanting RTR as I'd rather learn to build them now then later, so a quality kit is a must.

Hey micholi,

We race 12th Scale "pan" cars in the winter.  They are quite different from 12th Scale "touring" cars, (and even more different from 10th Scale touring cars like we run in the summer).  This link give some very basic info about the cars:

If I were you I'd go for a CRC Carpet Knife of some variety.  85% of our club runs these cars, and one of our members carries spare parts to every race night.

Check out www.teamcrc.com for more information.

Hi, Micholi

IF you want something different and exotic, I'd also consider a Corally SP12X. Parts are also readily available and I bring them to the track each night. Prices are comparable to the Carpet Knife.

Absolutely! There are a number of sponsored drivers in the club and all the cars are great.

In the past parts have been scarce in Canada but no more. The SP12X also accepts the AE or CRC front end if someone wants to replace the red duraluminum version as David Spashett did when he won the wrolds with it.

Either car is great and it's simply a matter of choice.
