D3.5 10.5 Turn
« on: November 05, 2014, 03:04:24 PM »
So I am thinking of running my WGT this Saturday but the only motor I have is a D3.5 10.5. Would anyone object to me running this motor for club races?

Hey Neil,

It's totally fine - go ahead.  If you TQ and Win then you will be banned from IROCC...!  J/K.

All kidding aside, the 10.5 was never in question about legality.   Only the 17.5's world wide, and the 13.5's were also banned in europe.  I did hear Vegas banned all D3.5's, but the 10.5 and 13.5 are ROAR legal.

I hate to disagree Shawn, but the way I read the ROAR site is that any motor on their list is legal. I was unable to find the D3.5 listed in the 10.5, 13.5 or 17.5 list. It is listed in the modified turns and the 21.5 turns.

I stand corrected.  The 10.5 was legal though.  It uses a different wire then the 17.5 and the 13.5, and there was never a problem with it.   Politics must be the only reason the 10.5 was removed.

Sorry, I am all messed up. It is the 17.5 and the 10.5 which were the problem motors. Its actually the 13.5 and 21.5 motors that were okay.

The 17.5 and 10.5 both use the same 20ga wire that was questionable.
