thinking about getting into 1/12 scale
« on: August 04, 2014, 01:38:26 PM »
i was at nrc and i got a 13.5 brushless motor for 25$ and I am thinking about getting a speed passion reventon s or r for it. i am not in a rush, but i am looking for a good 1/12 roller for under 110$ new or used. what would i be able to run with a pan car indoors with a 13.5 motor?

I managed to get my speed passion to work in single cell, but i really dont recommend it when you can spend a little more and get an esc that is designed for the purpose.

Id suggest the orca VX1 or Hobbywing 1s 3.1. booth have built in voltage boosters for single cell use. craig has everything you need to run 12th scale. since the cars are so much cheaper than touring cars overall, there is no reason to cheap out really.

Hey Avery,

You will want a CRC 12th Scale car ideally.  Most IROCCers run this brand and there are many spare parts available locally.  Let's chat in Richmond (if you make it) and we can figure something out.  I would bet that between myself, Craig, and some others, there will be some good used rolling-chassis' available.  You have the right motor, and any ROAR blinky ESC will work.  The only other thing you'll need is a mini servo.  I have a 1s battery you can have for free.

There is an CRC xi on used Victoria with a servo and battery for $100. This is a good price and is a better car than the newer ones in my opinion.

The one on Used Vic is one of my old ones, I just can't remember who I sold it to. I think it is older than an XI, it probably is an XL but I don't think it has been run since I sold it.
