Good day!

Well I was having handling problems in the mains and when I got home I had a chance to look over my car and it turns out that my left front tire (Jako Blue spec from carpet race) had cut down big time. Now I know I tap the walls once in a while lol but the tire failed right where the belt and insert ends. I have had this problem befor and I am not shure what to do to get better front tire where. The specs are toe out 1* total, and camber 0*. The right front was also grooving the same but not quite as bad.

Any ideas? Thanks, Neil.

Hey neil I noticed that you turned to soon into the corners thatcould be the reason. Turning and hitting could cause the tire to fail.

I noticed the same issue with my jaco's (from the same carpet race), but I caught mine before it had worn through. Added some more camber (mine was a rear tire), and the problem hasnt continued.

I actually think that its the insert is to soft, and allowing the rim to cut the tire down when the side wall flex's.

My two cents worth is the tire may be getting cut down from the body, or like Gerry said impact, or a combination of both. It looks like over all there is lots of rubber still left on the tire. And the cut in the first picture is not wearing out or bad make from what I see. Usually the rubber seems to wear for me,  from the inside out and inevitably get the final groove on the inside hub where the rubber is thinner and there is no traction left, like what I ran last weekend, then you get a hole along the diameter.  But those tires seem to have been cut somehow. I would have to see them at the track to take a closer look but that's what it looks like to me. Seems there is lots of material left in the tire.

Cameron trashed some tires pretty badly last year, acouple of pairs had the inserts come right out of the tire.    I guess the damage doesnt even have to come from your car/body, could have easily been caught on someone elses chassis during a collision.

Looks like a cut to me too, rather than wear.

Thanks for all the input, I agree that it is most likely a cut. My body was pretty rough and those darn boards keep jumping out in front of me lol! I was a little surprised when I first saw it as I have not had that happen untill now. I am just amased that I finnished the 2 mains with that tire even though I knew somthing was not right as the car was doing strange things, go figure!
