Using Gorden's picture as an example, I was wondering if the esc wire (highlighted with green arrow) could be plugged straight into the booster, and remove the blue plug hooked up to the + and -. This way, only 1 plug would be going into the receiver from both the booster and esc, and would be cleaner.

it's been tried before and as Neil said it will not work that way with the tekin RS

It is also not a bad thing to have your reciever filled with plugs as it will help reduce the amount of rubber and carpet dust that will get in.

So it may work with other esc's? Will give it a try on mine as its not tekin.

Airtronics have little rubber plugs for that very reason.

Thanks guys.

J-Rod, do you have the female bullets on the motor side?  If so, you should swap em around to be compatible with some of us other IROCCers.  The male bullets should be soldered to the motor, and the female bullets should be on the wires coming from the ESC.

Oh. Dang.. Just seemed to make sense this way.. As it's the same way as the battery plugs are.. Guess I have to go by more male ends..

How do you solder the plugs to the motor? Is there a special bullet connector that fits thru the hole and solders on the backside? As that's the side with the metal tab..

Use a very small piece of wire

jarrodH

Ok, that's what I did.. Just seemed like there's a better way

Standard connectoring dictates that the power "delivery" should come through female ends for safety.  If you think back to running Deans plugs, the male plug was on the motor.  Remember plugging a BRUSHED motor directly into the battery to see if it worked?  Well, same concept with the bullets.  Obviously do NOT plug your brushless motor directly into your battery...!

14awg wire is the perfect size.  Tin a 2" length of stripped wire, and then solder it into the first male bullet.  Then cut it off at around 3/8" and push the wire through the motor hole.  Solder in place on the backside.  Takes a little practice at first, but then you figure it out.  Hold the male plug in place by connecting it to a female plug and hold it with needle nose.

Jerrod where do you put ur receiver and transponder on the chassis? You have any pics on how you mounted them?

How I did it was move the esc over twards the right side and put the receiver next it on the left. The transponder I'm goin to put on the top place above the battery

when it comes down to a 100's of a second then i would find a spot on the front for it.

jarrodH

theres just no room..i guess without the front upper brace u could stick it ontop of the servo.. but then it just adds more front weight..
