I heard some discussion about a "Rent-A-Ride" thing a while ago, and was wondering if is still happening/what class the car is ?

My friend is interested in getting into racing (specifically touring) and he was wondering if he could rent it this coming weekend/how much it is.

Thanks guys!

i believe it was sold off as it was not being used, but some one may let him try one??

I think there was talk about updating it but no one has posted anything about that. if people wanted to chuck in some bucks, i could put one of the builds together i posted about. modern chassis with industry standard everything.

Hi rrooster,

We sold off the rental car because it was not getting any use.  It was an 1/10th Scale Electric Touring Car.  This is the most popular type of car for summer racing.  I would be willing to bet that someone will let your friend try one of these cars if you come out to the track on Sunday.  If he likes it, there are a few used cars in the club that would make great starter cars at reasonable prices.

Hey Blake. We met this summer. I am Corey - the navy guy planning on racing with you next season. I just read Valks post about specs for the electric touring class. Is this about what I would be getting if I bought one of the used cars from the club?

PS: Does this annoying letter verification and four questions go away as I use the forum more? I have to google the fifth element just to reply to this post.  ???

If you pick up a used 2011-2012 spec car, such as xray t3, tamiya 417v5, serpent s411 associated tc6.1 ectect you will get a better chassis for the money. Used cars can be hit abd miss though. May require replacement parts right away. Though you can usually score spares with them which is nice.
All the electrics i posted are industry standard for roar 17.5 racing though.
The sakura xi and spec are are simply good value for starter kits.

Hey Corey,

If you buy a used car from the club, look for an XRay T2 based car (T2, T2007, T2008, T2009, T3, T3'11, T3'12, T4).  These are well supported in the club with spare parts.  HobbyKing would risky because there aren't many/any of them in the club so you'd have to stock a lot of spares to make sure you are covered.

As for the verification thing, I believe it will go away after you make a few more posts.  Let me know if it doesn't.

Looking forward to having you join us next summer!  When do you make the move?

Thanks very much for the info. I'll be sure to message you once moving plans have solidified. I expect to be out there early to mid next summer. with my luck though the navy will have me sailing right away lol.
