Well, its still pretty "open" though.. ROAR's modified rules state the motor must be an 05 (540) sized can, 1/8 output shaft, and if it uses sensors then it must use the standard sensor port.    No mention of Windings, Diameters, or any of that jazz.

Blake, I think what Neil is referring to is on WCICS rule book, page 11 & 12 (2013).

Shawn.

Hey Shawn,

Ah thanks - I didn't see that part on page 11/12.  It sort of contradicts page 7 where is says:

"Motor: Stock/spec class motors must be on the ROAR approved list as of the date of the race."

That kind of implies that Mod classes do not need to be on the ROAR list.  I will have to ask Josh for clarification, but if you are running in Mod classes, I would not worry about your motor or ESC.  I've never seen those items checked at any race in Mod classes.

Blake

Hey all,

I heard back from Josh about ROAR motors in Mod classes.  The WCICS rulebook is incorrect on page 11/12.  You do NOT require a ROAR approved motor (or ESC for that matter) in either of the modified classes.

Not sure what happens if you show up with an 8th Scale motor in there...!

gerry. if you got the turnigy packs i think you did, those work like a hot damn and yes, they are roar approved.

we can all avoid these kinds of threads in the future though. whenever someone is shopping for stuff, dont even mention the cheap stuff. if its not roar approved, you cant afford to buy it simply. lots of not $100 batteries out there. those turnigys work just fine and if we could organize a large enough order of them, the shipping wouldn't be terrible either. figure it would cost you $30-$40 for the roar approved turnigy, or the $60 smc that bego sells. of course, craigs $70 CRCS are top of the line and not a bad price as there is NO shipping and NO tax on it. not like you need more than one. you can practice with whatever the hell you want but for the race, ONE good roar approved battery is all you need between our 4 hr long rounds lol.

i think in the future, it is dangerous to mention things like "we arent a roar club, cheap is good enough" officially we are for our large scale events, and i dont see any reason to have lesser stuff for club racing.. why spend money twice?

Funny how how many people don't have roar approved batteries and I'm sure other stuff, but jumped all over not letting people run their d3.5 17.5 as soon as it was temporarily non-approved..

How many? My guess is Zero.

Funny on how many people find the time to troll on this website, but never seem to find the time to actually race.

I think for the future when the exec polls the club for information/idea, everyones "vote/input" should be weighted to how many times that person actually raced the previous season. (keeping Winter and Summer racing separate).

Shawn.

Pretty sure I was out last week?

And you wonder why people recently choose to run offroad, less attitude and  bs you miss races for more important things.

If your gonna drop your .02, expect people to put their pocket change in too.   You took a poke at people for not buying ROAR, don't be shocked and offended when you get a poke back.

And no "I" don't wonder why people run Offroad.   No interest.

Cya Saturday,
Shawn.

Sorry that the facts suck, but it's not like nobody knew about roar and their universally enforced rules.. And I didn't pick anyone out unlike you Shawn.. Just a universal opinion, no personal attacks..

If people need 2cell roar batteries I have a couple I can lend.. Just don't see why people are acting so surprised and upset when the known rules are actually used.. Honestly I don't really care less what people run for batteries..

Hey guys let's remember what my question was all about. I was wondering if my motor was legal as it was not on the roar list that I had been Looking at. That question has been answered.
