Futaba is the only way to go. There's a lot of us who use them.

Futaba doesn't help "low budget racers". Specially if you have to replace all your receivers.

its arguable with futaba or airtronics... though you see quite a few more airtronics at really big onroad it seems. but any decent offering of either will be a minimum of $300. plus almost $100 for receivers. i think if anything futaba has the best deal right now with the 4px, as it supports all the fasst frequencies and all the fhss, sfhss and tfhss they are plugging now.
so if you wanted, you could use $50 sport receivers just fine with the 4px, and buy a really nice one for a mod car or somthing that actually matters to have a fast setup.

for my m12, ive been using the older fhss3 as the fhss4, though STUPID fast seems to be less reliable at range.

I would definitely look at a higher end dx4 like the s or r model. then you have compatability with their top of the line surface receivers, but can still use all your old ones.
ps, i know lots of people swear by the orange brand receivers... i would peronslaly have a problem trusting my $1000 cars to a $15 peice of equipment.. lol. do they have a failsafe function?

im almost tempted to go back to futaba with the 4px, but i dont hate my m12 in any way really enough to wanna take a massive loss trying to sell it with 4 receivers. if i had enough money to afford both to try back to back to back, that might be a different story.

ah well, craig is still kicking out butts with a dx3r so it must be decent. if you were to look at used stuff though, there are a bunch of really high end radios fs now as people upgrade to newer models.

good to hear. plan is to pass my radio to my friend that as out lastnight and get him setup in a tc.

Jrod. The dx4 is the best way to go. You can buy genuine Spectrum Rx's for $30us, and your still compt with old receivers.  .    airtronics is expensive and my m11 feels cheap.  Spektrum has excellent tech support while airtronics only recommends by their new radio to fix old problems. Not cool.

They have a fail safe and I run one in my nitro car.
