Spektrum does have their free receiver promotion on now.

I've wondered - what features do people look for in a new radio? I assume it is mainly feel, rather than programming capability, telemetry, etc? Aside from trims and travel adjustment, what other features are needed/wanted? One thing that I like about mine - I can set the trims and travel adjustment without going into any menus, for fast changes.

So don't worry if you are at the next race day and a bunch of people look like they are stealing your radio. We're just shopping. (We'll try to limit it to times that you are not driving. ;D)

Feel, adjustability and response I'd say. I don't really use any of the computer functions or.modes. most of my m12 features I use are in chset which is identical to my mt4. Basic things like subtrims, endpoints, arc rates ect

I'm.not using any expo/arcs but programable buttons for those are nice to have. Otherwise the response is nearly instant and I was able to adjust angles and pressures to my liking.

One nice thing about the Spektrum DSM 2 radios is you can use the hobbyking orange mini recevers that are about $15 each and I try to have 3 or 4 with me that are for sale.

I am not completely sure, J-Rod, but I think they are backwards compatible but I don't think they are forwards compatible. Neil, can you answer that one for Jarrod?
ie. DSM2 will work with DSM1 but not the other way???

Emaxx + parked car  don't mix..................

To clarify a DSM2 radio will work with a DSM1 receiver but a DSM1 radio will not work with a DSM2 receiver.

Hey Jarrod,

I have a couple of Spektrums on the shelf at the track.  One is the same as the club car (DX4C, $109.99 ish), and the other is a higher end Spektrum (DX4S, $299.99 ish).  It seems hard to beat that DX4C for value... it has all the critical adjustments like Sub Trim, End Point Adjustment, and Dual Rate.

Also, found this written about both:  "Compatible with DSMR, DSM2, DSM and Marine receivers."
