What current should I charge my battery pack at?

I am using Novak Mullenium Pro to charge my new 6 cell NiHM pack but it seems to stop at only 3-4 mins into the charge and only take about 8.6V.  I am charging at 7A with Novak MiHM2 mode.  I am in the right mode?  Too much current?  Why does it stop so soon?  I know that it did not get a full charge at all.
