Do you want a RC track in Victoria area?

I want a place to go play. And am willing to help in anyway I can, but not interested in any form of organized off road racing.
I dont want to help but want a place to go play and to race in a organized off road racing club.

Thats what I thought. Ok we'll continue with what we had going on here then.  8)

WhoDoYouThink

There are skills involved in both types of racing. I just think on-road requires a lot more precision than off-road! ;D

By the way bubu1.0,  just out of curiosity, as one of IROCC's Executive, who are you, exactly?
Have you attended any of our on-road racing at the Colwood Park and Ride parking lot, or any of our indoor 12th scale racing on carpet  during the Winter?
No one seems to know who you are.

Nick

No, you are not likely to find too much support from within this organization for a few reasons.
1) A lot of us did come the off-road ranks back in the day, but as that section of R/C failed largely due to a lack of members and a location to race. It was easier to find unused parking lots to race on-road cars than to find somewhere to find a large enough plot of land to run off-road.
2) The location we now have for on-road has helped to make our club grow tremendously. Most of the original members are still racing and enjoy seeing new members come on board, mainly because of the current location. Off-road is hard to gain new racers because the track is usually hidden in somebodies backyard where the viibility is nil, so you are totally reliant on word of mouth.
3)IROCC, as a club is already supporting the efforts of Air Ink Hobbies in Nanaimo because of the support we have had from a group of their racers during our winter indoor season. What goes around comes around. Air Ink has a great following for their off-road racing, both local and from other locales on the Island. They have put a great deal of money and time into the track in Nanaimo. And since they have a hobby shop right next to the track, they are very likely going to continue to grow.
Don't get me wrong, I loved racing off-road when we were getting 20+ entries but I don't want to go out and race(bash) in the dirt when there is always a big field of racers and a number of spectators at our on-road track. So, I wish you all the luck if you go ahead in this venture but why not support a club that is already up and running, Air Ink for off-road or IROCC for on-road.

My name is Alan

I attended a couple of your outdoor events up in Colwood but never seen your indoor events except on Youtube. I only talk to one person didnt formly introduce myself but I yacked for a bit about onroad stuff I believe his name was Gordon. Ive talk to others but it was more casual yacking then anything. Im not here to piss anyone off I just want a place to go race off road thats it. Currently using the bmx track to race on but we keep getting boated and really the bmx track isnt for RC to begin with so. There is a light at the end of the tunnel as off racing is growing especailly the short course truck racing genre everyone in the industry is on board novak, tekin, proline etc. Hoping this growth in the hobby will hit the island and some form of organized off road racing will come to Vic area. I know naniamo has felt this and they are endorsing it and benefiting from it too, I hope Vic gets the urge to take that step too.  ;)

Im sorry I am not interested in on road stuff its not my thing.

I agree with what you said it makes plenty of sense. But, the facts you stated maybe hinder by the fact that your group issues with lack of interest was from the mid 90's. Now I dont know your source of info if its up to date or not. But again land and visibility become big factor. Which brings us back to square 1.

Lets say in a perfect world so to speak.
If land came availible lets say free to build your onroad facility and with room to spare lets say arces. And seperate group of off road rc enthusaites wanted to join and make it an on and off road community area so you have pavement we have the dirt. And we live happily ever after :-*

Is this dream even feasible could this become a reality at some point.

dajracer

That is the dream of all R/C racers, a community that can play together.

hey guys just went thought the thread quickly,  the issue about the Old bmx track and the new bmx track,  the old BMX track is run by ABA,  and only they are allowed to race and practice on that track.  the new one that they built for the Worlds last year is not used by the ABA,  as ABA is not allowed to use that track and/practice on it.  plus it is to big for them to use anyhow.  both track as staying put for now according to my friend who's son BMX's
ood grief I think I lost my....
. one turn at a time, but what do I have to do on the straight's again.
