Do you want a RC track in Victoria area?

I want a place to go play. And am willing to help in anyway I can, but not interested in any form of organized off road racing.
I dont want to help but want a place to go play and to race in a organized off road racing club.

Just for the sake of interest lets see how many ppl are "seriously" interested in an RC track in the Victoria area.
Seems theres been some chatting between some members on here in regards to talking to Juan De Fuca Rec about building a facility to house the interests of IROCC on road and possibly off road :D I said enough  :-X

I am one for the RC facility or whatever I'm willing to help for a off road track. And who else is in.... ;D

"""For those interested, I've had an email conversation with Blake from IROCC about a combined road and off-road track area on Juan de Fuca Rec land. Here is what he said...

"Our dealings with Juan de Fuca have been positive. They have always been helpful with helping us secure our parking lot each year. We are permitted access to the lot almost every Sunday in the summer, and they always let us know early if there is some other function that might get in the way. All they ask of us is to be named on our insurance policy.

I have never approached them about building a permanent track. I feel like I *should* approach them because it could be good for our club, but the truth is, the location we race is very ideal for us because it is so visible. I would hate to have to move to a remote location in order to have a permanent facility.

Kamloops has this problem. It's in the middle of nowhere behind a relatively dead arena. Their club is not large and I feel this is partly due to the lack of visibility of their facility. You're right though, it's a very nice setup!

So, all that said, of course I would still be interested in some sort of permanent facility for IROCC! It would be very nice to not have to build the track every Sunday, and to be able to practice on it during the week. That might mean teaming up with another group such as yourself to build a dual purpose onroad/offroad venue.

Let me know if you are planning an official proposal for Juan de Fuca. Or if you just want to meet in person to talk, we could do that too."

I agree with Blake that location is number one for any RC track... the more visible the better. If we could work along side the IROCC I'm sure that would give us more pull with Juan de Fuca or anywhere else for that matter."""

Im not sure where myself my friends friend lol is the one with the land. He wants to build something track but is worried there wont be much interest. We agreed all of us want short course racing for sure the rest is in the air for what else races. We want a organized form of racing too so. So yeah the land problem is no longer an issue. Now its just funding and put things on paper as to track layout etc. We'll need fill top soil and gotta rent a bobcat but we are aways from that point need to scope the land and figure out a layout. There is light just takes some "time to get all the bricks in order" so to speak.

Gorden

you should watch a lot of videos that show track layouts on youtube
it will give you a good idea of what you need for a layout.

Falcon, do you know if Juan de Fuca has or had any plans for the old BMX area that they ripped out?

Long story short.
The owner of that old bmx track who owned that land wanted to turn it into an RC track (whatever you wanted). Well apparently at that time no one came forward and approach the owner with ideas so he sold it to that discovery kids climbing centre.

I wouldnt bother with Juan de fuca they would want independent liability insurance before allowing any RC facility to be built. To many costs and no return to cover up front costs.

Insurance is not that hard to attain.  IROCC holds a policy on which Juan de Fuca (West Shore Parks and Recreation Society) is named as an "additional insured".  Yes, we have to pay for this policy each year, but it's not really a deal breaker for a group that is truly interested in a new initiative.

Ok so is there any hope in the near future of anything from your end?? Or should we proceed with what is going on here. I would LOVE to have a place that is professionally run and organized to go to I think everyone here agrees on that. Instead of some backyard made up track. But, I think  doesnt matter since everyone is soo desperate that they dont care what "label" is behind it they just want a place they all can play and race. Our butts are sore from the beatings we take from the bmx track owners....Tired of hearing "those things destroy the track, get off!!"  >:(
Its been years since there has been anything, and there has been dozens of attempts of building something but always seem to fall through. So I dont know its tough to get too razzed up about anything now days with the past that we have all seen and read. Are you the choosen one.... will you lead us into the future and beyond...LMAO ;D but all jokes aside really is there a something?
